One hundred years ago, Sokol members organized first anniversary run for the young republic of Czechoslovakia (that was year 1919, October 28th ). It was a similar idea to the relaying of the Olympic torch, only instead of a torch, they were relaying greetings to the first president of the republic, T. G. Masaryk. This year, Sokol organizations in the Czech Republic rejuvenated this idea and are organizing runs in many locations in Czech: Beh Republiky . Read more details about run, main idea, organizer on www.behrepubliky.cz and follow their news. We, the American Sokol Washington D.C., would like for you to join us on Sunday October 27, 8:30 AM. With some local adjustment (local registration, day/time) and oversea support (idea/advertisement/medals and more ) we will join Czech cities in this anniversary celebration.

There will be two races. The main one being 5 km long and shorter option will be 1km.

All registered participants will receive commemorative medal!

Registration will close October 23.

We will meet at Meadowbrook park, Chevy Chase, MD.

Start time for 5k race is 9:00 am, start for shorter race will be determined later. Participants of all ages, genders and races are welcome!

Hope to see you on the start line, small or tall, fast or slow, young or old! Wear nationals colors to celebrate this 101st anniversary.
